Pat Larkin is a writer first and a photographer second. Pat first realized that he had a gift for writing from the encouragement of his ninth grade English teacher in Tulsa, Oklahoma; Vern Taliaferro. Since that time Pat has dabbled with poetry, and short stories but this is his first foray into combining his photography and his writing skills into a single work .
Pat was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he began his journey as a photographer. Spending his earlier years between Oklahoma and Colorado, he developed a very strong passion for pure, natural and rugged beauty which is exhibited in his photographic work.
Pat started his career shooting the gorgeous sunsets in Oklahoma with a Nikon, 35mm camera given to him as a high school graduation gift from his father. From there, he worked in college as a portrait and “party pics” photographer support his habit of hiking in the Rockies and shooting the rugged beauty there. It was on these excursions that his love affair with landscape and black and white photography began. Pat took a hiatus from photography for many years while raising his family and chasing his corporate career.
Pat’s passion for writing and photography has been smoldering ever since but was truly re-ignited in 2006 while on a mission trip in Kenya. He has since left his corporate career in home building and land development to pursue his first passions; writing and photography.
